SAITEC Offshore Technologies and Ocean Ecostructures bring innovation to offshore wind with Life Boosting Units

TRANSEATION partners Ocean Ecostructures and SAITEC Offshore Technologies successfully deployed their Life Boosting Units (LBUs) produced in Catalonia on the DemoSATH floating wind turbine, located at the BiMEP Biscay Marine Energy Platform test site in Bizkaia.

A living lab for environmental innovation

The initiative is part of DemoSATH Lab, a collaborative platform created not only to test SATH technology but also to serve as a living laboratory for environmental innovation. By integrating LBUs into floating offshore wind, the project demonstrates how infrastructure can evolve into habitat, supporting marine biodiversity while advancing renewable energy development.

This action represents a tangible outcome of the TRANSEATION project. It combines innovation and ecological design to explore new ways of fostering marine life around energy infrastructures and to monitor its evolution over time.

Technical updates will follow, providing key pilot data on how hybrid solutions can enhance both ecosystem regeneration and the sustainability of offshore energy systems.

By turning offshore platforms into opportunities for biodiversity, TRANSEATION contributes to the EU Green Deal, the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030, and supports the objectives of the Mission ‘Restore our Ocean and Waters’, showing that the future of energy and the future of the ocean can advance together.
