Festival Presentation at Cartagena City Council Kicks Off Activity Registration
On 18 July 2025, the TRANSEATION project, coordinated by the Naval and Marine Technology Centre (CTN), proudly took part in the official presentation of the eighth edition of Cabo de Pop—a unique festival merging environmental awareness, music, and community participation. Hosted at Cartagena City Council (Murcia, Spain), the event brought together institutional representatives and organisers to unveil the summer’s most anticipated event for ocean lovers and citizen science enthusiasts alike.
Set in the emblematic surroundings of the Cabo de Palos Lighthouse in Cartagena, the festival will take place on 15 and 16 August. It promises an exciting blend of live music, open-air sports, educational activities, and science outreach, all designed to highlight the importance of protecting and restoring marine ecosystem.

Discover the sea through science: Activities by CTN and TRANSEATION
TRANSEATION will offer two free, hands-on activities that engage the public in marine conservation, data collection, and storytelling—combining science with creativity.
Coastal Bioblitz
This guided coastal walk is a true citizen science experience. Participants will use the COSEA mobile app, developed by SPOTTERON as part of the TRANSEATION project, to document marine and coastal biodiversity in real time. The app enables users to take photos, identify species with visual guides, and record their observations in a digital logbook. The data gathered contributes to European-level research on ecosystem health and offers an accessible entry point into environmental science for all ages.

Voices of the Sea
A participatory art space where festival-goers will be invited to write or draw messages about ocean protection. These contributions will become part of a collective mural—an emotional and symbolic expression of the community’s shared commitment to safeguarding the sea. Later, this mural will be digitised and shared across TRANSEATION’s platforms and outreach channels.
Both activities are part of TRANSEATION’s wider mission to promote ecosystem-based management through citizen participation, digital tools, and awareness-raising. By taking part, visitors help demonstrate the power of hybrid blue-grey infrastructures and nature-based solutions for marine restoration.
Don’t Miss Out – Reserve Your Spot!
CTN and TRANSEATION invite festival-goers of all ages to take part in these free activities, designed to entertain, educate, and inspire action for the ocean.
